Quack! Time for some Duck news….
We’re now halfway through term 4 and summer is here baby – Yay! After we see this term out you & bub should be well prepared for some recreational swimming over the Xmas holidays (check out our specials for toys that you can practice with) and term 1 will be here before you know it!
The team are PASSIONATE about children learning water confidence and life-saving swimming skills! So remember that if you have any questions about the lessons or concerns with your little one’s progress you need only ask at reception or call us for a chat – we are always available to help and advise!
Here we go….
Could you or your baby’s carers save your child’s life with CPR? Do you know first aid for infant choking or febrile convulsions? If you missed out on our last CPR and baby first aid course don’t worry, we’ll be running another event early in the New Year
Learn from operational paramedics as they teach what you need to know if your child suffered a life threatening emergency.
A relevant and recommended workshop to parents, nannies, grandparents and babysitters. Basically anyone who will be looking after your child.
Covering: Infant & adult CPR, choking, severe bleeding management, meningococcal, fever & febrile convulsions, burns and more…
Look out for posters with around the centre soon.
Discount Christmas toy packages
Log in to the parent portal to check out our special toy packs for all things sinky, floaty and fun! There is a great range to choose from, categorised by levels so you can practice what you are learning in the lesson or familiarise your bub with toys to be used in future lessons. A note regarding goggles for kids, these are not to be used until aged 2.5 years and only then for a limited amount of lesson time to avoid “goggle dependency”.
Saturday afternoon classes A Saturday afternoon session is opening up. If you’re interested, email Barb and we’ll see what we can do 🙂
Team Duck and Dive welcomes – ZOE! A huge welcome to Zoe, our latest team member and as you can see from our pics she is already making friends and teaching classes at our Artarmon location! FOR THE DIARY – Re-booking deadline of Sunday 17th November 12.00 midday
How does re-booking work? Everyone will be moving up to the next level where new skills and activities are introduced that are relevant to your baby’s physical and cognitive skills set.
Your child will be offered the same class day and time (children aged 3+ years may have to change). To ensure we cater for you, please ensure you have booked in by the deadline of Sunday 17th November 12.00 midday
After this date, we open up to the babies on our wait list – so don’t miss out and lose your spot!
Read the T & C’s before finalising your booking and so avoid any difficult conversations once term starts if your circumstances change and can’t attend the term.
Steps to re-book
STEP 1 – To re-book – go to our website duckanddive.com.au and click on Parent Portal in the top right corner of the home page.
STEP 2 – Login and book into your current class time
STEP 3 – if you need a new nappy click “add product purchase” (new nappy, kickboard, cool toys)
STEP 4 – If you would like to change your lesson timeemail us BEFORE THE DEADLINE. DO NOT change your class time online, email us a request.
If for some reason you won’t be joining us next term please let us know via a quick email.
Can I get a refund once term starts or transfer fees to next term?
No – unfortunately once term is underway you won’t be able to get a refund if your circumstances change. You will have the opportunity to review the T&C’s before making payment.
If another family member or friend would like to attend lessons and swim your baby….
From time to time we understand that mummies and daddies are away for a lesson and an alternative family member may need to swim with your baby.
The baby has to be settled and relaxed with the new carer.
For the comfort and safety of your baby the carer MUST also be:
– Water confident
– Comfortable with baby handling
– Able to speak and understand English
– Able to carry out instruction as asked by the teacher.
Before attending a lesson ensure they:
– Understand and can perform “name, ready, go’s”, making sure water is poured over the forehead
– Run through how our classes work
– LISTEN to the teacher, COPY all her actions, ASK if unsure
– ALWAYS ensure baby wears the correct gear i.e. disposable swim nappy and Splashabout Nappy.
Most of all we want bub to be happy and comfortable in the water and not distressed.
